Invercarron Wines is located in Broadmarsh in the picturesque Jordan Valley in Southern Tasmania, only 40 minutes from Hobart and nestled perfectly between the better known Derwent and Coal River Valley wine regions. The Jones Families’ have farmed the Jordan River Valley since 1827 and are the first to produce wine in the region.

Our 6 hectare vineyard site was identified following an extensive search over our 600 ha property. The final location is dramatically perched above the valley, where an ancient dolerite intrusion has lived an even more ancient sandstone rock shelf. The result is a unique combination of soil and aspect which are perfect for producing high quality and distinctive wine grapes. We have then carefully selected clones of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris that suit our site’s growing conditions, to maximise the potential of the fruit and the quality of our wine.

Richard and Andrew Jones are genuinely excited about the premium cool climate wines we are producing from our unique location.

Our Story

Pinot Noir 2020

Meticulously hand-selected according to clonal ripeness, this Pinot Noir was batch fermented utilising both indigenous and cultured yeasts. Crafted with elegance and purity at its heart, this is the inaugural release from a vineyard destined for high places. Floral and sweet cherry notes dominate.  100% destemmed for all fruit. Extended cold soak on one fruit […]

Chardonnay 2020

Hand-picked. Whole-bunch pressed. Naturally settled overnight prior to fermentation, and maturation in first class French Oak, 25% new. Partial malolactic fermentation and fastidious lees stirring added the final touches to a Chardonnay at the forefront of cool climate elegance. Minerality and stone fruits drive this wine. Handpicked and whole bunch pressed, naturally settled over night […]

Pinot Gris 2020

Fruit was separated into two distinct picks: one early season, one late. This technique allowed the wine to achieve superb freshness and vibrancy, whilst achieving an aromatic depth and intensity that defines tasmanian pinot gris. Quince, fig and pear notes dominate this lush palate. Two separate fruit picks fermented separately for using alternative yeast strains. […]

Rosé 2020

100% Rosé. Neutral oak fermented. Neutral oak aged. Two barrels created in this inaugural vintage. This is a remarkably aromatic and expressive wine, supported by a creamy, textured palate that defines high quality rosé. A crisp, dry wine bursting with strawberry confection. Saignee style Rose’. Saignee allows us to get a fruit drain directly from […]
